Dog basic care includes ear care, eye care, walks, collars, crate training, obedience training, socialization,possibly a fenced in yard?,maybe a dog house? hygienic supplies (grooming supplies),treats and toys. You provide these things because a healthy, happy dog makes a happy dog owner.

Dog Love and Human Love

Do you love your dog? You might say what a silly question since dogs throughout history have never lost their desirability. From the earliest times until the present humans have altered the behavior of dogs to fit into our lives.

Or do we alter our lives to fit in with the dogs? Dogs become almost instant family members. Dog care and dog health care become our jobs. We are responsible for their care, health and providing necessities (supplies). We have taken on a daunting responsibility.

Dogs bring to humans a very different kind of love than human to human. Most adult humans, can take care of themselves while dogs rely on us for their knowledge of the world around them, their care, health, safety and to purchase the supplies necessary to meet their daily needs. Much like that of a human baby their survival depends on us.

Dogs can bring out our inner child. From the moment we set eyes on a puppy our hearts skip a beat. From that moment on we lose our mind to puppy love. Each wag of their tail and the wiggle in their bottoms mesmerize us. The love you feel is unending . Your can't wait to get the puppy home to join your family.

Dogs On TV and In Hollywood

How far do some humans go to provide dog care and show them love? In some homes the dog eats better than the people.That's not the norm, at least I don't think so. For some the only limits are their budget and imagination when it comes to caring for their dogs. For others the budget doesn't matter.

I did see something unusual on the TV program "It's Me Or The Dog". In one episode the family had two very large dogs. They were feeding these dogs lavish meals while they ate frozen pot pies. They spent hours cooking roasts and vegetables for the dogs. I had never seen any thing like that before. Have you?

Is it love when our biggest movie stars and starlets carry their family dog on their arm at Hollywood events. Is it love or/and another form of "arm candy"? Even Hollywood stars have the ability to love their pets they are in reality no different than us. They don't just buy designer dogs but often go the local pound to find the right dog.

Making Your Choice

Are you looking for the right dog? The right breed? Big? Small? Will they fit into your life style? Are you ready for the time and attention a dog needs? I know this is a lot of questions. I just want you to think before you take on dog care, health maintenance and the cost for their supplies.

I don't doubt that you have the capacity to love a dog. I just want it to be the right dog for you. Loving a dog is pretty easy. The rest is a lot of work. You need to educate yourself about dogs, their socialization, their needs and cost especially if you never had one before.
